It all started in February, when famed short-seller Jim Chanos subtweeted Twitter user Domenick commenting on the progress of Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory.
Chanos tweeted with a smug sense of superiority, as is usual for $TSLAQ accounts. Through his mocking and condecending tone he declared: We are smarter than you. We understand the auto industry, and you understand nothing. You’re just a moron.
Flash forward 10 months, and Chanos is the one looking like a moron while Gigafactory Shanghai looks like this:
Oops.
As the latest video of the record-breaking construction progress surfaced, Domenick couldn’t resist jabbing back at Chanos, and the Tesla short community at large:
Somehow, Jim Chanos was not amused. Maybe it was Tesla’s rising stock price, or losses that threaten Jim’s firm and repuation, but the famed short seller just didn’t find it very funny:
Chanos ended up blocking Domenick from his anonymous $TSLAQ account.
In Depth Analysis
This is a classic case of $TSLAQ sore loser. Last year the anti-Tesla Twitter campaign reveled in the joy of harassing and taunting random Tesla customers and fans. Now that they’re facing mounting losses, they don’t like the taste of their own medicine very much.
Damn shawty!
“condescendingly.”
Burn, Jim, Burn
