Britain to Ban Sale of New Petrol Cars by 2030

Remember when Britain promised to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2035? No? Well, now they’re moving that date up to 2030. Much better.

As EV technology continues to advance and deployments roll out faster than anticipated, expect to see this kind of thing happening more and more places.

“Success will depend on reassuring consumers that they can afford these new technologies,” SMMT said in a statement, adding the new deadline posed an “immense challenge” to the sector.

Johnson’s plan was broadly welcomed by industry.
